Changes For Better

Time goes fast. I already started my junior year one month. Junior year is an exciting and challenge year for me .It is an exciting year for me because if I pass my junior year I will get closer to University. It is a challenge year for me because I jump from ELL 4 class to AP class this year. I remembered that I learned easy stuffs in ELL class, such as reading short stories, learning grammar, vocabularies and sometimes I have free time to do my own things. But this year, I felt totally different being my junior year.
The first lesson of my junior year was learning to write a good college essay. I think this is a good point to start my junior year. I don’t treat it like a common homework, I take it serious. I made a draft in my mind, I think about how to start my college essay and how to get a best way to improve myself in the essay. I made change for the better in writing skills. Such as I made change for the better in the essay structure. I learned to make a hook at the first paragraph of the essay for attracting reader, and I learned how to organize my essay to be more clear show my idea in the essay.
The rest of days I read a novel which is called “The Catcher in the Rye” by J.D Salinger. It’s a small book, but full with millions of small words in the book. In the past two years, I didn’t read a book like this, but this year I do. Even there have a lot of strange vocabularies for me; I still want to translate every single word in the book that I do not know.  I believe I can learn many vocabularies when I finish the whole book. So far, I did read whole book, and I just finished the final test right the way. In this case, I made change for the better in the reading skills. I can read a novel and understand the main idea in the novel. I improved my reading speed and learned many new vocabularies.
In the past two years, my listening skill was so poor. I needed to listen more than twice that I can probably understand what they are talking about. In the ELL class, I do not have many opportunities to communicate with my classmates in English because most of my classmates are Chinese and we used to communicate in Chinese. I know that is not good for learning English but I cannot control myself to stop doing this!  In this year, my study environment has changed.  I used to speak English with my classmates, and little by little, I can more understand people’s saying. I know learning new language need a process; I hope those change can made me for going better and better. In someday, I can speak fluent English.
